MISSION TO MEXICO
Throughout the New Testament we see that God has a certain love for big cities. Although Jesus was born in the “little town of Bethlehem” we know that Jesus’ life and ministry centered around cities and towns – places where there was the greatest amount of suffering and need. Mexico City is the world’s largest city, as it has 20 million people where 98% are Roman Catholic, 50% live in illegal housing, and 60% are unemployed.
July 1-8 seventeen people from TLC will be helping build at the Church / School complex in the beautiful Mazahua Valley near Atlacomulco, Mexico. The Church / School supports the small farming communities on the high altitude plain, 9600 feet, several hours drive NW from Mexico City. The gospel is new to this area (15 years). We have been called to walk with the Mazahua Valley Bible Institute, churches, and Mexican pastors who share the grace and hope of Jesus Christ to our neighbors.

Fundraisers!
The Mexico Mission Team is working on two great fundraisers and we need your help!
First, will be having a used book sale on May 3, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm, in the church parking lot. We would love to collect any of your used books. Here's your chance to clean off those shelves. Look for collection boxes in the Narthex.
Second, on Wed., May 21, we will be having chicken enchiladas, salad and dessert at 6:00 pm and then a Silent Auction to follow. We need your help in putting together themed baskets for this great cause. Some ideas for these baskets include themes centered around: sports, entertainment, gardening, Bible stories, and themes related to various other hobbies or interests. These baskets need to be brought to the church office by Friday, May 16. On Sunday, May 18, the Auction will begin between services and will conclude at 7:20 pm at the dinner on Wed., May 21. Look for tickets on sale soon.
Also, there will also be a box lunch fundraiser after church on June 8, in Hidden Park. Tickets for lunches can be secured on Sundays, May 25 and June 1.
Thanks to the generosity of our TLC foundation half of our expenses are paid for. Our goal is to raise $5,000 through donations and fundraisers.
Please call Melissa Lemke, 944-0944, if you have any questions.
HOLDEN VILLAGE
Holden Village is a great place for a family vacation! You can spend a week high in the Cascade Mountains, 9 miles above Lake Chelan, choosing between mountain hikes, lectures on everything from geology to theology, Bible Studies, musical concerts, learning to weave a table runner, etc., etc., or just sit beside rushing Railroad Creek and read a book. Oh yes, there are special activities for children every morning, evening vespers for everyone each night, and great food in the dining hall for every meal. Come learn about Holden on Wednesday, May 7. Come for supper in Trinity Hall at 6:00 pm and stay to see a film about Holden, ask questions of the Lansverks and others from Trinity who have been to Holden, and end the evening with a short version of Holden Vespers. Children are welcome, we won’t be that long winded. Attention, any Trinity folks who have been to Holden, plan to join us on May 7 to help paint a picture of the special impact a week at Holden can have on your life.
TRIP FOR FUN
The Trip for Fun will hear “Amelia Earhart” in a living history program at the Pearson Air Museum on May 14. Ann Birney Ph.D. will portray the famed aviatrix lost over the Pacific in 1937. “Amelia” will tell us of her life and trans-Atlantic flights. The program starts at 1:30 pm in the large hanger at Pearson. The cost is $5 (museum entrance fee) for seniors. We will meet at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, May 14.
HAPPY LUNCH BUNCH
Happy Lunch Bunch invites everyone to attend our luncheon on Tuesday, May 20, at noon, to help honor the “Senior Saints” of Trinity. Our special guests will be folks in our church family who are, or will turn 90 in 2007 or 2008. We will interview and prepare a booklet telling a little about each of them. We also send a special invitation to all those that we honored in the years ’02, ‘04, and ’06. Those to be honored on May 20: Wayne Holmes, Aldora Howard, Burnice Morecroft, Lorene Oberheide, Leone Planting, Kay Renner, Edith Scheel, Helen Sampson, Warren Strain, Sarah Swanson, Jeanette Thykeson, and Martha Wiegand.
Here is a list of all the folks currently in the Trinity church family who have been honored at the previous “Senior Saints” luncheons: Ethel Burgess, Erma Granfors, Gladys Krah, Eva Kuyath, Inez Olin, Olive Norris, Ken Reep, John Scheel, Bill Taylor, Jo Whitaker-Smith, Olga Winge, and Wilma Zillman. If you know of any in the church family who are 90 or above, and their name does not appear on the current or previous Saints’ list, please notify Peggy Lansverk, 694-7246. Come help us celebrate on May 20. Ham will be provided for the potluck table. We invite everyone, except all the special guests, to bring one item to share on our feast table.
SOFTBALL ANYONE?
It is that time again to spread our wings and have fun playing on our church softball team. The goal of the Lutheran Fellowship Softball League is to promote a “Family League” style of play for fun and fellowship. Games run May through August, on Sunday afternoons between 2:00 and 5:00 pm. Sign-ups in the narthex or let Pastor Eric know if you are interested. Who knows this may be another banner year!

AN IN-DEPTH LOOK AT TRINITY’S
2008 MÉXICO MISSION TRIP.
Yippee!!! I’ve got my passport in paw and I’m headed to Atlacomulco, México, for the 2008 Mission Trip in July. ¿Hablas Español? I’m currently being tutored privately by a 3rd year Spanish student who is very smart. Maybe my tutor would want to join me on the trip to serve as my translator!
I understand that México is near Disneyland and I hope so much that it’s true because I have family there that I’d like to visit! I’m looking forward to eating plenty of cheese quesadillas while I’m south of the border. Cheese, as you might guess, is my favorite.
Lately, I’ve been spending time thinking about the upcoming book sale (May 3) and auction (May 21) that will help pay for our trip. I’m quite well read, you know. I just hate the thought of giving up some of my favorites . . . Cinderella, The Diary of a Church Mouse, and of course Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men. Actually I’ve volunteered to put together an auction basket, too. I’ve come up with a fantastic idea that I know you will all want to bid on.
Please don’t miss the book sale or the auction in May. The auction was a blast last year, and I suspect this year it might even be better. Oh, and don’t forget your pesos. Adios amigos!

By purchasing fairly traded items, the artisans receive a fair wage and are able to help others in their country. It is a win-win for everyone! Come, see and shop!
100 WORDS FROM CHINA SERVICE VENTURES
Prayer has been described in many ways. It is a conversation with God; prayer is doxology, praise and thanksgiving; prayer is confession, supplication and intercession. To each person, prayer has a different meaning. Yet every Tuesday at the China Service Ventures office, people gather for prayer concerning our ministry in Henan, China, and the United States.
In April, a CSV board delegation will travel to Hong Kong and Henan Province to meet with Chinese partners and officials concerning HIV/AIDS, summer camp opportunities, organic farming, English education, youth-service projects, and housing for our new field developers. Your mission? Keep these meetings in your prayers asking God for blessing and grace as we seek to serve His children. – The Rev. Steven Ray, China Service Ventures, (877) 408-7056 or steverayCSV@aol.com
